Brotherhood Outpost
A rocky stronghold where the Brotherhood's iron will clashes with the Commonwealth's wasteland.
The Brotherhood Outpost is a forward operating base for the Brotherhood of Steel, located on a rocky peninsula overlooking the harbor southwest of Boston. It functions as a military garrison and supply hub, serving as the main entry point for new initiates arriving by Vertibird and a staging area for patrols against Super Mutants and other threats. While different from the fortified Castle or the mobile Prydwen, this location shows the Brotherhood's steady, boots-on-the-ground effort to secure the region.

Lore & Background
The Brotherhood of Steel is a fictional organization from Fallout, descended from a secessionist group of United States Armed Forces soldiers. They collect and preserve advanced pre-war technology, but are not generally known for sharing this knowledge, even if doing so would improve quality of life. The Eastern Brotherhood, as seen in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, is one of several chapters stemming from the original Western Brotherhood. By the time of Fallout 4, under Elder Arthur Maxson, the Eastern chapter had reverted to their original mission of confiscating and reverse engineering lost pre-war technology, reunified with the Brotherhood Outcasts, and re-established contact with their superiors on the West Coast. The Brotherhood are one of the pivotal factions in Fallout 4, and players may choose to either side with them or join another faction to eliminate the Brotherhood in order to progress the narrative of the game's main storyline.
In Their Own Story
The wind howls off the Atlantic, carrying the salt and the scent of decay into the reinforced hangar bay. Knight Rhys adjusts his power armor gauntlet, checking the charge on his laser rifle one last time before stepping out onto the ramp. Below, the ruins of Boston stretch like a broken jaw, but up here, the Brotherhood's flags snap proudly in the breeze. 'Initiates report for patrol,' he barks, his voice echoing off the corrugated metal walls. The silence that follows is heavy with anticipation; they are the shield between civilization and the abyss.
Reader's Guide
The Outpost is a rugged, multi-level complex built into a cliffside overlooking the water. Visitors enter through a main gate guarded by Brotherhood soldiers in power armor, often accompanied by the hum of active turrets. The interior features a central courtyard with training dummies and a large hangar for Vertibird landings. Scribe Haylen can be found analyzing pre-war technology or discussing the Brotherhood's archives. The area is patrolled by Knights and Paladins who are generally hostile to those not wearing a Brotherhood uniform unless they have proven their worth. Hazards include automated turrets that may fire on unregistered individuals, though the Brotherhood will often de-escalate if approached peacefully. The location also serves as a vendor hub where players can trade caps for advanced weaponry and power armor components. Be prepared for strict questioning regarding your background and intent upon entry.
